Homework for tonight:
Some students have spelling word rewrites: They need to rewrite the missed words 10 times each. Students who got an A on the test do not have to do this.
Titles/ Favorites redo: Some students have to fill in the chart for what to do with titles (quotes or underline) This is only for students who didn't do well on their Favorites writing assignment.
All students have a 2 sided context clue worksheet to complete.
All students have to finish the first paragraph of their pen pal letter.

The tryouts for the musical are this week.
Science: We are beginning our new science unit on plants this week.
Grammar: Our focus will be idioms.
Writing: We will be writing a book review and pen pal letters.
Reading: context clues, plays, prefixes, and suffixes
Midterm reports went out of Friday of last week.
RC quiz #11 is due this week.
Beverly Cleary challenge: The students have been challenged to read 29 Beverly Cleary books. She was an author that we studied last week. If they (as a group) pass them all, we will watch the movie Ramona and Beezus. The students are all allowed to read her no matter what their lexile might be.

Sorry for the late post! We were without computers all day today! I noticed a few parent emails as well, once I was able to get back on the internet. So sorry that I didn't respond earlier. It is amazing how messed up things get without computers. I told the kids we were going to do things...OLD SCHOOL today!

Science: Boy, we had an interesting science class yesterday. Our topic is the digestive system. We made stomachs out of plastic bags and added bread and Coke (stomach acid). Some of the kids thought it was so cool...others were a bit grossed out! Overall it was FUN! We are finishing up with our newest body system today. Next week we will be doing some review activities with all of the systems. The test will be on Friday of next week, hopefully!
Reading: We have been working on inference lately. To further that topic, we are conducting a TV talk show with the characters from our most recently finished story. The "characters" will have to infer answers to the questions asked by the studio audience. We are writing our questions today and acting on Monday.

First draft of the newspaper article is due on Monday.

RC quiz #9 was due yesterday, so there is a whole new group of kids with reading logs. Anyone who isn't caught up on quizzes is required to do logs.
Spelling homework: find the mistakes in the letter that you got today. Make a chart of spelling words that are spelled correctly, and ones that are incorrect.
Writing assignment: Write a paragraph describing one of our new "illegal boring words". 5-7 sentences about something big, good, nice, or pretty. Remember not to use those words.
