NIACC instructors came to visit the 5th grade today.
The Entrepreneur for a Day (E4D®) program is dedicated to teaching 5th grade students the fundamental principles of entrepreneurship and how to start a business. Students learn the distinct differences between becoming an entrepreneur and being an employee. One of the goals of the program  is to get kids thinking about being a job creator versus a job taker. We encourage them to understand that entrepreneurship is a viable career pathway.
◾During the first day, trained facilitators visit the students’ classroom and get them excited about the program by introducing terms and concepts of entrepreneurship.
◾The second day, students are invited to visit the NIACC campus where they choose a product, borrow money from a bank, buy resources they will need, make the product, then sell the product and determine if they made a profit.
◾The visit concludes with a tour of NIACC which offers students a sense of campus life, diversity, and validates college. Many of these students may be the first generation in their families to attend college, and the campus presence enables the students to make a post secondary connection.
Jacobson Elementary students will be going to NIACC next week. for the second session

Dear 5th grade parents,
There are so many things coming up in the next couple of months, we just wanted to send you a note with all of the information we have at this time.  Keep it somewhere safe, there is a lot here!!
Thursday, March 26th
NIACC will be sending three instructors to Jacobson Elementary to work with our kids on being an Entrepreneur.  They will work on the various skills we need to go to NIACC next week for Entrepreneur for a Day!
Friday, March 27th
A really neat program called Rockin’ Prevention is coming to work with our kids in the morning on bullying prevention.  Richard O. Jacobson donated money to this program, and in return he asked that they come to Jacobson and perform!  Go to http://www.rockinprevention.org/ to learn more about it!
We will begin our Growing up health talk on Friday and complete it on Monday.  Nurse D teaches the boys and Mrs. Kern teaches the girls class.  The kids usually end up with some questions after these days, so don’t be surprised.
Saturday, March 28th
Little Bronco Volleyball camp is having a parent watch day from 10:30-12:00.
Wednesday, April 1st
Early out for teacher inservice
Thursday,  April 2nd
We will be headed to NIACC for Entrepreneur for a Day.  It is a terrific learning experience, unlike any other field trip we’ve ever been on.  It’s a full day of lessons on finances, money management, and owning/running a business.  The kids need to bring their own lunches on that day!
Friday, April  3rd
No school
If you have any questions about any of these things, please contact one of the 5th grade instructors!
Sincerely,
Annie Bram

Grade update

Thanks to Mrs. Mick and Mrs. Wagner, I got several of the assignments the kids completed last week.  You'll notice some assignment grades going in today.  There will be some assignments with no grades, due to the no school day.  Don't worry if you see an assignment without a grade.  They'll eventually be entered, after Mrs. Wagner gets to those assignments. Remember, I'm checking my email on a daily basis, so if you have any questions, shoot me an email.
