Upcoming trip to Des Moines

The fifth grade students will be heading to Des Moines for Exercising your Character.  This is an excellent program where famous Iowans come and speak to the kids about the importance of exercise, and also the importance of being a person of good character. Speakers this year are: Kirk Ferentz, Paul Rhoads, Tim Dwight ( former NFL player from Iowa), Casey Blake (former MLB player from Iowa), and Hunter Kemper as the emcee.
There will be loud, peppy music, and dancing! Everyone will get a free t-shirt to wear that day. The students will receive a free lunch and we will stop and eat at a park on the way home. (Some students find that the healthy lunch isn’t quite enough to get them through the day, so if they want to bring an extra snack for the day, that is fine).
This is an amazing experience that we can’t wait to share with the kids again this year.
Mark your calendar for April 29, 2014! We’ll be leaving right away in the morning, and will be back before dismissal!
Please get ahold of one of the 5th grade teachers, or Mrs. Kern, if you have any questions.

Please remember to send a lunch with your child tomorrow.  We will be at NIACC nearly all day!

4-10-14

Iowa Assessments are over, unless your child missed one of the days this week.  We will be doing make-ups for the next few days.  The only homework for tonight is to study your vocabulary words, and finish the final draft of the Million Dollar Essay!

Tomorrow the kids will get to be the first students in Jacobson to use the new full sized laptop cart!  I'm so excited!  They will be taking their vocabulary test online.  They will also take their RC test over the story they just finished, and their SRI.  We are going to be all about computer time tomorrow!
I think the kids are going to be really excited when they see them.

Remember, next Tuesday we will be headed to NIACC for our field trip.  Remember to send a lunch with the kids.

Field trip Tuesday

The kids took a note home about our field trip next Tuesday.  Just in case you didn't see it....
We will be headed to NIACC for Entrepreneur for a day.  Please send a lunch with your child.  This is a great learning experience for the kids. They get to learn all of the aspects of being a business owner.  REALLY fun!
