No homework tonight!
Study for Friday's spelling test. I have decided to make the Science test Monday instead of Friday to make sure the kids have enough time to study. Yes, studying for a test is homework :) I posted the notecard website. The kids also have a study guide, a cell illustration, and they will have notecards after class tomorrow.

We took the SRI test today. Ask your child how they did! This is the first time we took them on the laptops in the classroom instead of going to the lab. It is nice to be able to work in our room on the computers!
Reading- We are beginning our work on main idea today. This is a very important concept for the kids to master! Read 20 and reading log tonight for homework. Quiz #6 is due tomorrow.
Grammar-Action and being verb worksheet
Writing- first draft of Thanksgiving essay is due tomorrow
Science- foldable due tomorrow

Science study guides were corrected yesterday! The kids have them in their folders to start studying now. We will study in class as well, but they should study at home too.

Writing assignment: Last week's assignment wasn't as polished as I'd like, so this week we are turning it in on Wed. for editing and the final draft will be due Friday. The assignment this week is to work on your sequencing words to tell me what happened over Thanksgiving break
New spelling and vocabulary words have been posted. Spelling test Friday and Vocab will be Monday.

I hope you all had a GREAT long weekend! Just a couple of notes for next week....
We don't have new words for spelling or vocabulary, yet. I figured that it would be a little silly to give them last Tuesday. I didn't picture a lot of 5th graders spending their vacation studying! We'll get them on Monday and Tuesday.
The next RC quiz will be due on Wednesday. Remember that anyone who is caught up with quizzes will not have to do a reading log. All others will.
Early out on Wednesday for inservice.
No weekend homework! The only assignment is to read!

Science cell coloring and study guide. If everyone gets their work done, we will do an experiment tomorrow. If not...more reading out of the book!
Writing assignment due tomorrow: Tell me about a time you got in big trouble. Make sure you use voracious vocabulary...not just the same old words. Don't forget that final drafts are in cursive!
Book orders due tomorrow! They have to be in before Thanksgiving in order to get them back before the winter break.
