Today is the last day in March.  That means that 2 March RC quizzes are due.  Tomorrow, anyone who didn't get their two quizzes will have to stay in for recess and read until they are completed.  They will also be bringing a note home to parents, to have signed.

Pioneer Girl spelling and vocabulary

 Pioneer Girl Vocabulary Definitions
1. claim - a piece of land that someone reserves for ownership.
2. convinced - persuaded or certain.
3. discouraged - not hopeful or enthusiastic.
4. fertile - rich in material needed to grow healthy plants.
5. heifer - a young cow that has not yet had a calf.
6. homestead - a piece of land given to settlers for farming and building a home.
7. immigrants - persons who move to a new country.
8. prairie - a large area of flat or rolling grassland.
9. sod - a chunk of grass and soil held together by matted roots.
10. memoir - an account of experiences that the author has lived through.
11. discharge - to shoot or fire.
12. firebreaks - grassless ditches fires could not cross.
