Reading
What a busy, fun day. During reading we are practicing our holiday reader's theater. Some of the stories are "Goldilocks and the Elves," "Polar Express," and "Arthur's Christmas." On Monday we worked on reading with feeling when we performed "The Grinch". Kids that need to catch up with RC quizzes are still doing reading logs. The next quiz is due Thursday. #7
Language arts
We are writing a book this week as well. The kids are writing and illustrating a book entitled.."Diary of a Wimpy Reindeer." These are so much fun! They are turning out so neat.
No spelling and vocabulary words this week.
Science
We began our unit on the body systems yesterday. We will be spending 2 days on each of the 10 systems. Today we compared ourselves to an orange. We talked about the protective outer coating and how it was like our integumentary system.
Tomorrow:
Early out
Kaps for kids: bring your change if you want to wear a hat.
Meeting in the morning about how the kids can be safe while on the internet.
Friday:
Remember to bring your drink and snack for our movie in the afternoon.
Last day to bring your food donations for the food pantry.

PROGRAM today! Just a reminder that the K-6 program is this afternoon. The 5th/6th graders will be dismissed from the high school after the program.
Looking at the calendar for next week, it appears to be just as busy as this week. The kids were given a note yesterday explaining all of the following items. JUST in case they forgot to bring it home.. :)
We are in need of a few supplies for next week, if you have them at home please send them as soon as possible.
* toilet paper, paper towel, or wrapping paper tubes
* baggies
* grocery sacks to clean lockers before break
Tuesday we will be practicing our lockdown routine. We talked about this today during class. Ask the kids about it. It is a little scary to talk about and they may have some questions. Lockdowns can take place for a variety of reasons. Some examples might be...something going on at the high school, a potentially dangerous animal outside, a fire nearby, an accident, a dangerous intruder in the school system...
Wednesday we will be going to the high school to hear a speaker talk about digital citizenship. He will be teaching the kids how to be safe on the internet. The kids may also bring their change to wear Kaps for kids this day. This is an early out.
Friday the kids will be bowling. We will also be watching a movie in place of a party. They may bring a small snack and a drink for that day. This is the last day before break for the kids. Teachers will be back the next Monday and Tuesday for meetings.
Our next RC quiz is due next Thursday. We will not resume normal spelling and vocabulary work until after break. We are having a couple of review tests this week and next, but nothing new.
Homework over the weekend...Just read!

Wow, can't believe it is December already. There were even a few snowflakes in the air today. I let me homeroom go out and run around in it for 30 seconds if they agreed to focus back on the reading lesson when we were done. It is amazing to me how a little snow can be so distracting.
