Conferences

Just a reminder that there is no school on Monday or Friday next week, due to conferences.  We will be having an early dismissal on Tuesday and Thursday for conferences as well.  Wednesday is a normal day. :)

Conferences are unscheduled, so come any time it works for you from 2:30-6:45 on Tuesday or Thursday.  I'm also available off and on Monday, it's not a conference day, but I'll be there.   We have some meetings that day, but if you send me an email, I can let you know when I'll be there.

Our vocabulary test is Tuesday, click HERE to study!

This week we will be finishing up our parts of speech unit, with our test on Friday or next Monday, depending on how the kids do this week on our studying.

Speakers on Tuesday: At the end of the day on Tuesday, we will be having Mr. Stein and Mr. Jass come and speak to our 5th/6th graders.  They will be talking about what types of things are expected by coaches and employees in the "real world".  We'll be talking about character traits and work ethic!

Other than studying for our upcoming vocabulary test, your only other homework is to READ this weekend.  Quite a few of our 5th graders are behind on their RC quizzes.

Wow, we made it through a whole week without a snow day!  It looks like this week will be storm free as well!  That makes me so happy!  We need some time to get back into the swing of things!

This week we will go back to our weekly spelling words.  The kid will get their new words tomorrow.

We'll also be getting our new vocabulary words tomorrow. If you want to get a head start, click HERE to play a game or look at some flashcards.

In reading, we're putting our Basal series aside and working with a novel for the next 3-4 weeks. We're going to be reading The Mixed up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.  It's a terrific book with lots of interesting vocabulary terms.  We're going to finish our unit on Cause and Effect, and Point of View this week, with a short quiz tomorrow over cause and effect, and over POV on Wednesday.

Grammar will consist of finishing up on prepositions, and learning about interjections.

In writing we will be working on run on sentences, and paragraph placement in our writing.  We'll also be producing a Google Slides presentation.

Friday we will be taking our science test.  The kids will be bringing home a completed study guide tomorrow.  There are MANY vocabulary words on this test, so I suggest you start studying now. ClickHERE to help you study.

We're practicing for our concert this week.  A reminder that our concert is on Monday, February 13th, at 7:00.
