Wow, hard to believe tomorrow is the last day of the year.  The kids have learned and grown so much, and will make GREAT 6th graders.  I hope you all have a terrific summer!

Lunch tomorrow:
Mrs. Haugen's homeroom won the pizza for the soup label contest, so they don't need lunch tomorrow.
Mrs. Mick's kids will also be eating pizza, due to a DOJO reward.
Ms. Bram's kids need to bring a sack lunch

Just a reminder...
Tomorrow is the track meet.  The kids can bring a water bottle and a small amount of money for the concession stand, if they would like.  Our portion starts at 9:00.  In the afternoon, kids with late work will be with Mrs. Mick, kids who made the DOJO hall of fame will be with Ms. Bram, and the kids who don't fit into those two categories will be watching the lower elementary track meet with me!!

Track meet is Thursday.  This is a no color “specials” day.  Friday will be a white day.  4th-6th grade students should be ready to go right at 9:00 a.m.  K-3rd grade students should be ready to go at 12:30.

5-17-15

RC quiz #15 is due on Monday. The kids will have part of their reading comprehension grade based on their reading counts for this final quarter.  Their percentage of correct answers on their tests will be worth 100 points, 1 point for each percentage point achieved. They will be getting 10 points for each of the 15 quizzes that need to be passed by the end of the year.

Monday is double token day at school for PBIS. Each child that earns a token for Bronco Pride behavior will be getting two tokens.
Start looking through your houses for books that need to be returned to school.  I am missing many from my personal library.

We will be finishing up our last theme in the reading books this week.

Tuesday our specials time will be switched to 11:10-11:55 in order to accommodate some things happening in 6th grade.

Wednesday is an early out.

Thursday is our track meet.  It begins at 9:00.  In the afternoon, kids who earned the DOJO Hall of Fame awards for receiving 100% in any given month, will be with Ms. Bram in her room, CELEBRATING!  Late work?  These kids will be working with Mrs. Mick.  I will be taking any other kids out to watch the K-3 track meet at 12:45.  The concession stand will be open, so if the kids want to bring a small amount of money, they can.

Friday our boxtop and soup label contest will be ending.  Keep sending yours in please!

Monday, May 25, no school for Memorial Day.

Tuesday, May 26, end of the year spelling and vocabulary tests.  Be studying all week this week, don't leave them for the last day!

Wednesday, May 27, last day.  Send a sack lunch with your child.  We will have our end of the year assembly in the morning.  Then each of the 5th grade teachers will spend some time with each of the groups, and then we'll head outside for a picnic lunch and a kickball tournament.  Send plastic bags or an extra book bag to school with your child, for all of the extra take home papers.

All students who have homework for Mrs. Haugen complete, will be able to watch the movie My Side of the Mountain tomorrow!  We just finished this great story, and the kids are really excited to see if the movie is similar to the book.

What's happening this week?

Spelling: We will be reviewing all of our words from this year. We will have a final test over randomly selected words on May 26th. 

Vocabulary: Our last regular vocabulary test will be on Thursday, over My Side of the Mountain vocabulary.  We will then begin studying for our end of the year vocabulary test, which will be May 26th.

Reading: Our last story will be My Side of the Mountain.  We will read that this week, and watch the movie of it on Thursday! Anyone with all of their work done, and who has also passed the quiz over the story, will be able to watch the movie. Our skill this week is drawing conclusions, and inference.

Language Arts: This week we will begin our last project of the year.  We'll be researching and taking notes over an animal.  The kids will then make a Google Slide Show using various nonfiction text features.

Don't forget we have Fine Arts night on Thursday night.  Art showing starts at 6:30 in the gym.  Kids need to be in the classroom at 6:45 to take attendance.  You are invited to have a cookie in the lunchroom after the concert.

Fishing at Lake Cornelia in the morning, during specials time.
