11-13-16

I was not in school on Friday, so assuming our substitute did everything the way my plans said....there is not any homework for the weekend :)

SPELLING
This week we will be moving on to the Mae Jemison spelling words. We will get these new words on Wednesday, and our pretest will be on Thursday.  The test will be next week, right before Thanksgiving break!

Vocabulary
Our vocabulary this week:
Monday we will review our words from La Bamba.  Tuesday will be the test.  Here are the words:
1. applause - the clapping of hands to show approval.
2. debut - a first public performance.
3. duo - two people performing together.
4. embarrassed - made to feel self-conscious and ill at ease.
5. forty - five record - a small phonograph record that is played at forty - five revolutions per minute. 6. limelight - the center of public attention.
7. pantomime - the use of movements and facial expressions instead of words to convey meanings.
8. rehearsal - a session of practicing for a public performance.
9. talent - natural ability to do something well.
10. pharmacist - a person who fills medical prescriptions for a living
11. ado - fuss or bother.
12. maneuvered - to make or cause to make one or more changes in course or position.
