We have been working on a tall tale unit this week. This will continue for our two days next week. Our first set of vocabulary and spelling words (tall tales week 1) is finished. The kids got their second set of tall tale words today. We will not be testing over them next week, as it is a two day week. We'll carry them over and test over them sometime the week after Thanksgiving!
The kids have been working on contractions and homophones this week for spelling. They continue to struggle with the homophones, as do some adults! We'll keep working on those. If you see them use the wrong form of the words in their writing, please help them to switch to the correct forms.
In grammar we finished up the conjunctions and interjections today. We are using the rest of this week to review all of the parts of speech we've had up to this point. Next week we'll try and get prepositions all figured out!
Our writing this week has consisted of getting ready to write our first major narrative. The kids have been planning out their tall tale. (HOMEWORK TONIGHT: Tall tale planning guide) We will turn our descriptions and maps into a story next week. They are really so creative! I'm excited to watch their work turn into some great pieces of writing.
